The 36th annual conference of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics on the topic of “Shaping transformation: Innovations in Agriculture and Rural Areas" will take place from 17th to 18th of September 2026 at the BOKU University in Vienna.
Conference programme
Die Plenarreferate beschäftigen sich mit verschiedenen Aspekten des Tagungsthemas. Inge van Oost (Active Senior Expert AKIS coordination, Belgien) wird sich in ihrem Vortrag dem Erbe von EIP-AGRI widmen und einen Blick in die Zukunft der Europäischen Agrarpolitik wagen. Robert Finger (ETH Zürich, Schweiz) widmet sich in seinem Plenarvortrag der Frage, wie digitale Innovationen die europäische Landwirtschaft verändern und zukunftsfähig gestalten können. Und Theresia Oedl-Wieser (Bundesanstalt für Agrarwirtschaft und Bergbauernfragen, Österreich) wird die Rolle von Frauen als rurale Innovatorinnen und notwendige Rahmenbedingungen beleuchten.
Insgesamt bietet das Tagungsprogramm zwölf Forschungsforen mit jeweils bis zu sechs Beiträgen, darunter 48 Vorträge and 12 Posterpräsentationen. Besonders hinweisen möchten wir auf die drei Workshops am Ende des ersten Konferenztages, die ebenfalls die Möglichkeit bieten, das Tagungsthema zu diskutieren. Um den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern die Auswahl der für sie jeweils interessantesten Foren und Workshops zu erleichtern, wird in Kürze ein Tagungsband die einzelnen Beiträge in Form von Kurzfassungen vorstellen.

Excursion
This year’s ÖGA field trip takes us to the Weinviertel region in Lower Austria. Our first stop is the Raiffeisen Warenverbund’s Agro Innovation Lab, which promotes efficient and resource-saving innovation in agriculture. We will then head to the Wiesner Bauer Hof, a self-sufficient farm where all food – from cereals and vegetables to natural wines, dairy and meat products – is produced and processed on site. The trip will conclude with an evening at the Christ Winery’s Heuriger at the foot of the Bisamberg.
