Katrin Karner is a research associate at the Institute for Sustainable Economic Development, Department of Economics and Social Sciences. A graduate of the international BOKU Master's program "Natural Resources Management and Ecological Engineering," she received her doctorate from BOKU in 2022. In her dissertation project, Katrin Karner developed a spatially explicit integrative model network and applied it to the Seewinkel case study region. She also worked with stakeholders using scenario techniques at the interface between land use and biodiversity in the Mostviertel region of Lower Austria.

In his laudatory speech, the reviewer, Prof. Dr. Emil Erjavec (University of Ljubljana), praised the submitted dissertation as an outstanding research achievement and particularly emphasized its solid methodological foundation.
