AJARS – Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies

The Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies  (formerly ÖGA Yearbook or Journal of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics) is the journal of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics (ÖGA). The journal offers publication opportunities for articles addressing economic and social science issues in the agricultural and food sector and rural areas and aims to showcase the diversity of scientific viewpoints and schools of thought. The journal is a medium for the critical examination of socially relevant issues in the agricultural, regional, and food sectors and contributes to the promotion of scientific discussion. It provides an overview of the current state of research in the German-speaking world and Central Europe in the following areas:

The Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies Economics and Rural Studies publishes original articles in German and English. Contributions from both basic and applied science are welcome. The journal particularly aims to support researchers at the beginning of their careers. It offers a high-quality publication opportunity, especially for the results of outstanding master's and dissertation projects.

The ÖGA is committed to making new scientific findings in the journal's subject areas accessible to a broad, interested public through open access.

Review-Prozess

Submitted papers must correspond to the journal's scope of content. They should contribute something new to scientific or applied socio-political issues, address new methods, or otherwise contribute to the advancement of the agricultural sector and rural development.

Only original research papers that have not previously been published in any other print publication or online will be accepted. Results that have already been made publicly available in a university publication are also acceptable; however, this must be properly acknowledged.

Manuscripts must be submitted in print-ready format according to the template and must not exceed 4,000 words (including tables, figures, references, etc.) All submitted papers undergo a ouble-blind peer review process with at least two reviewers. Accepted papers will be made freely available on the ÖGA website. The editors reserve the right to reject papers without giving reasons. Authors, in turn, may withdraw papers without giving reasons. The editors will generally reject a paper if it is deemed unsuitable by at least one reviewer.

Ziele und Ausrichtung

The Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies is the annual publication of the Austrian Society for Agricultural Economics. The journal publishes academic papers addressing issues related to the agricultural sector. All published articles undergo a double-blind peer review process and are available for free download from the Austrian Society for Agricultural Economics' website.

The Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies has the ISSN number 1815-8129 and the E-ISSN number 1815-1027.

Submission Procedure

Articles for the Austrian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies can be submitted once a year (usually by November/December). The deadline and detailed instructions can be found on the ÖGA website for the annual conference. Articles will be published in both German and English. Articles that were not presented at the ÖGA Annual Conference are also welcome. The guidelines for authors must be strictly adhered to when writing contributions.
