Reviewer’s Appreciation: Univ.Prof. Dr. Sebastian Lakner (Chair of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of Rostock)
The master’s thesis surveys and analyzes the opinions of Austrian farmers and foresters on glyphosate and alternative measures. It highlights the factors that influence the choice of a measure. Forty guided interviews were conducted with farmers and foresters in Austria who had used glyphosate-containing herbicides on their farms within the last three years. The interviews were evaluated using qualitative content analysis and analyzed using the theory of planned behavior (TBE).
This study is particularly worthy of the award because it adheres to high scientific standards and provides answers to a highly relevant topic for three audiences: practicing farmers, policymakers, and the interested public.
