XVII EAAE Congress

The Local Organising Committee and the Programme Committee cordially invite you to the XVII Congress of the European Association of Agricultural Economists on “Agri-Food systems in a changing world: Connecting Science and Society”.

The Congress will take place in beautiful and cosy Rennes – France, from Tuesday, August 29 until Friday, September 1, 2023. Get a glimpse.

The scientific and societal challenges for agricultural economists are huge. As scientists we need to create and share insights on how to transform agri-food systems into sustainable and resilient systems that increase prosperity in Europe and across the globe. The XVII Congress aims at contributions and interactions that can advance the scientific agenda, and at fostering the debate over effective policies and innovative strategies for agri-food system transformations.

New editor ERAE

The board of the EAAEP Foundation, our publication committee, appointed Vincenzina Caputo (Michigan State University) as a new editor of the European Review of Agricultural Economics. From September 1 she will replace Carl-Johan Lagerkvist, who served the journal very well since 2017.

ERAE information :

The European Review of Agricultural Economics now accepts review articles, and the ERAE Editors welcome proposals for review articles from EAAE members. Review articles should provide a comprehensive and scholarly account of a topic that has direct relevance to agricultural economics (methodological or applied) and that has not recently been covered in the literature. A pre-submission enquiry is required. If you are interested in writing a review article for ERAE, please send an abstract, outline, and key references to erae.editorialoffice@oup.com .

Vacancy editor Q Open

The European Agricultural and Applied Economics Publications Foundation, in short EAAEP Foundation, is seeking to appoint a new Editor for Q OPEN for the period beginning September 2023 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The new appointment is to replace Vincenzina Caputo, who steps down. Candidates should have an extensive knowledge of the relevant literature, especially in the area of food and stated preference research methods. They should have an excellent publishing record and proven reviewing expertise. Experience as a member of the Editorial Board of a scientific journal is an advantage. A stimulating vision regarding the position and development of the young open access journal Q OPEN should accompany these scholarly requirements. Ability to work in a team and to manage deadlines effectively is definitely required.

Q Open makes progress

Our open access journal Q Open is making progress:

  • The first issue of 2023 (volume 3) is progressing nicely.
  • We have been informed by Scopus that they have accepted Q Open for indexing. This is an important first step in being included in the major indexes and achieving an impact factor.
  • Q Open has put in place author guidelines so as to enable registered studies to be submitted.
  • We have a new manuscript transfer arrangement with the ERAE. Manuscripts submitted to the ERAE, but considered a better fit with the objectives of Q Open can now transferred directly for consideration for publication.
  • Q Open is also well on track to reach key-performance indicators on growth in the number of manuscripts and in the turn-around time for review.
  • We will shortly be publishing a special issue entitled ‘Evidence-Based Agricultural and Food Policy: The Role of Research for Policy Making’. We would like to thank Nadja El Benni, Christian Grovermann and Robert Finger for all their hardwork in making this happen.

Finally, we need further support from you.

Q Open invites EAAE members who have written a paper for the EAAE congress in Rennes to submit the paper to the journal. We hope to publish many of the papers before the end of the year. See our website for submission details: https://academic.oup.com/qopen

The 68th Annual Conference of AARES

Canberra, Australia from 6 to 9 February 2024

The conference theme is “Grand challenges at the frontier of applied economics”.

With this theme we endeavour to create a conference that explores the cutting edge of applied economics research and policy to address the grand challenges facing the globe and especially the Australasian region. These challenges relate to (but are not restricted to) biosecurity, climate change, environmental degradation, energy system transitions, and food security. This conference will provide a forum for our Society and profession to explore new opportunities for research and development, and policy practice that can secure efficient, effective, and equitable outcomes in the face of grand challenges.

We are currently putting together our programs of invited speakers, training and networking sessions. We would be happy to share future communications with you throughout the year, especially relating to the call for workshop/symposia proposals and call for abstracts.
